At the years end it is a good time to reflect on the past year and consider the possibilities for the coming year. I could go into detail as to my personal experiences over the past year and my plans for the coming year but that is not the focus of this website. This site is about a Christian World View so I will review the articles from the last year and the planned articles for the next year.
Christians often communicate in short slogans, mottos, or by quoting their favorite verse (sad to say, often pulling it out of context to make it mean what they want it to mean). I began this blog more than a year ago. My goal was to address a wide range of life’s issues from a Christian World View. I wanted to avoid the personal blogs, cutesy stories, slogans and quick answers. I wanted to give detailed and thoughtful analysis. I also realized that most people like the short inspirational stories and will not take the time to read more thoughtful articles. A small group of thoughtful people have taken the time to read and contemplate these articles. You are an exceptional group, and I am grateful to you. My hope is that my efforts have led you to examine not only my thoughts but your own thoughts and reasoning about various issues. I hope that it has sparked thoughtful interaction with others also.
I had hoped to write at least one article per week. I haven’t met that goal but I have written 35 articles. Looking back at the stats revealed some things. The top three articles were:
God Wanted Obama to be President
It’s Morality Stupid
Biblical Principles in Regard to California Ballot Propositions
Part of the reason for more views is that these were some of my earlier posts so there has been more time for people to read them. I think another is that they were closely related to the election and Christians are looking for thoughtful reasons on how to vote.
The next most viewed article was, Throwing Away My Life. It was exactly the type of personal, inspirational, cutesy story that I said I didn’t want to write.
The next highest views were:
The Gospel of Love
The Purpose of Government
Leave God Out of It
I Want to go Out of My Mind
For God so Loved the World
Born Blind. So that gives you the top 10.
I am glad to see that Leave God Out of It made it into the top 10. It is somewhat philosophical and a bit difficult to process. I appreciate that some people took the time to read it and evidently referred it to others.
There are two issues that are hot buttons in the social debate and are destined to totally change our culture whether or not we realize it. They are the American Medical System and Same Sex Marriage. Sadly Christians often are taking up secular reasoning on these issues and have no idea how to approach them from a Christian World View. I went into great detail on both of these issues and they were largely ignored by my readers. That really concerns me.
So much about the past. Here are a few titles of future articles planned for the 2014.
Choose your Heritage
The God of Second Chances
Freedom in Christ
Who’s Your Daddy?
Should America be a Theocracy?
Jumping to Conclusions
The Problem with Republicans
The Problem with Democrats
I hope that wets your appetite a little. The truth is that I have titles planned that will take me into 2015.
I wish that there were more opportunity for interaction with my readers. During the next year I will develop a Facebook page so it will be easier to place comments. For now you can leave a comment on this page or send me an email at Duane.Vasquez@verizon.net.
Thanks for reading. If you like what you read then pass it on. I would love to hear from you.
